KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian men’s badminton squad were defeated 3-1 by Indonesia at the Badminton Asia Team Championships in Manila yesterday.
World No 5 singles shuttler Anthony Sinisuka Ginting defeated Lee Zii Jia 22-20, 21-16 in 46 minutes to secure Indonesia’s first point. However, youngster Cheam June Wei gave Malaysia some hope after delivering a shock win over world No 7 Jonatan Christie in three games 21-16, 17-21, 24-22.
