A 12-year-old baseball fan visiting New York from Indiana struck out trying to get slugger Aaron Judge to sign a baseball — but he got his wish thanks to a chance encounter in a local pizzeria.
Samir, of Carmel, Indiana, had just seen his first Yankees game on July 31 — a loss to the Kansas City Royals — when he and his dad met a mysterious man who turned out to be state Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie . “I didn’t expect anyone to actually like, do something that nice … I thought he was yanking my chain,” Samir told The Post about the unexpected twist during his visit to the five boroughs in celebration of his graduation from elementary school.
While declining to name who specifically helped fulfill the request, Heastie told The Post that helping Samir came after years working with the Yankees on a range of local issues, including the construction of a new stadium that opened in 2009.
