PETALING JAYA: India membuat bantahan rasmi terhadap kenyataan Perdana Menteri Dr Mahathir Mohamad berhubung undang-undang kewarganegaraan kontroversi yang mencetuskan tunjuk perasaan di India.
Akhbar Times of India melaporkan kuasa usaha Malaysia di New Delhi diseru Kementerian Luar Negeri India dan diberitahu kenyataan-kenyataan seperti itu menyalahi amalan tidak mencampuri hal ehwal dalaman masing-masing dan hubungan 2 hala. Pada Jumaat, Kementerian Luar Negeri India menyifatkan kenyataan Mahathir tidak tepat dan menggesa Malaysia tidak mengulas perkembangan dalaman di India “tanpa memahami fakta-faktanya dengan betul”.
