In a statement today, Adly said he had proposed this to Governor Mohd Khalil Yaakob after Pakatan Harapan lost majority control of the state assembly.
The governor has the prerogative to accept or reject this request. If it is rejected, then Adly must resign as chief minister. The Malacca Harapan government effectively collapsed last week when Bersatu exited the coalition, taking two assemblypersons with them.
