In its 92nd year, the Good Friday Appeal has raised in excess of $23 million for the Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne.

The funds will go towards life-saving projects including cardiac care.Australians dug deep this Easter to raise money for the Royal Children's Hospital's Good Friday Appeal with $23,061,320 raised.

Victorians last year raised a record more than $22.3 million for the appeal, and Mr Andrews said he was confident the record would be beaten this year. "It is incredibly heartwarming to see so many Victorians coming together and getting behind the appeal, all with the aim of raising funds for the kids so each child can have an equal opportunity at a healthy and happy future," she said.The appeal started in 1931 with 427 pounds raised at a sports carnival, appeal chair Penny Fowler added.
