ANALYSIS: In the schoolyard of politics, when can WA's Liberals be the cool kids again?
Before long everyone will slip back into their usual routines as legislation breezes through parliament and question time is filled with plenty of 'robust' political games.
In the wake of their leadership dramas, which had thrust them further into the headlines than usual, I asked a handful of people on the street if they recognised Ms Mettam, or party powerbroker Nick Goiran. It represents the party's biggest challenge before the next election – getting in the minds of voters again.
He insists he's the victim of a "political strategy", denying that he's participated in any pre-selections except his own.But despite his insistence, the perception lingers both in and outside the party that his influence is significant. The hope of many is that with Ms Mettam at the helm, flanked by two other women as party president and federal parliamentary party leader, it will not just look like the party has changed, but she'll be able to encourage its members to actually drive that change too.
