Gill said: “I stand before you tonight very humbled. It’s been a crazy week for sure.”
“I stand here to tell you after a week of reflection...after many conversations — the most important the conversation at home with my wife, Alixon Collazos-Gill, I will not be seeking the nomination for state Assembly.”
Gill told NJ Advance Media he made the decision because Alixon told him earlier in the day she wanted to stay in the race. “She changed her mind,” he said. He said there will be other opportunities to seek high office, but declined to say what they might be. In June, primary election voters approved Codey for Senate, McKeon for Assembly and Collazos-Gill of Montclair. But numerous sources who requested anonymity to reveal confidential negotiations said Gill expressed interest in the Senate seat and challenging McKeon. The compromise resulted in Collazos-Gill stepping aside and Gill and Bagolie joining the ticket.
