KUALA LUMPUR: Dipacu pandemik Covid-19, ekonomi global mungkin mengalami kemelesetan paling teruk sejak Zaman Kemelesetan pada 1930-an dan jauh lebih buruk daripada krisis kewangan global 2009, kata Tabung Kewangan Antarabangsa .
“Keadaan yang digelar ‘The Great Lockdown’ ini dijangka menyebabkan kemerosotan pertumbuhan global secara mendadak. Pemulihan separa diunjurkan untuk 2021, dengan tahap KDNK akan kekal di bawah trend pra-virus, dengan ketidaktentuan terhadap tahap pemulihan kelak.
Beliau berkata, meningkatkan perbelanjaan dalam penjagaan kesihatan penting untuk memastikan sistem penjagaan kesihatan mempunyai kapasiti dan sumber mencukupi. Beliau memberi contoh, di pasaran negara berkembang dan membangun dengan sektor informal yang besar, teknologi digital baru dapat digunakan untuk memberikan sokongan disasarkan.
Antara pasaran baru dan negara membangun, semua negara menghadapi krisis kesihatan, kejutan permintaan luaran yang teruk, kesukaran dramatik dalam keadaan kewangan global dan kejatuhan harga komoditi yang akan memberi kesan teruk terhadap aktiviti ekonomi dalam pengeksport komoditi, kata laporan itu.
