A water connection at a logistics center construction site in Shah Alam , Malaysia, was found to be illegal and was shut down by authorities after a five-month investigation. The Suruhanjaya Perkhidmatan Air Negara ( SPAN ) team seized a 32mm HDPE pipe directly connected to the main water supply from Air Selangor. The site had also been using two 25mm water pipes without a legitimate water account.
These actions were considered illegal under the Water Services Industry Act 2006, with possible penalties of up to RM100,000 or up to one year in prison. 10,927 complaints regarding unauthorized water usage were recorded in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, and Putrajaya from January to November 26, marking an estimated loss of 919,417 cubic meters of water valued at RM2.54 million
