Illegal visitors throng Penang Immigration office to go ‘Back for Good’
Under the Back For Good programme, illegal immigrants need only to present themselves at the Immigration office with their travel documents and a ticket home, and pay RM700 to be allowed to leave Malaysia without facing the legal consequences. – The Malaysian Insight file pic, December 24, 2019.
HUNDREDS of illegal immigrants have thronged the Immigration Department’s Penang office in Butterworth since yesterday, to seek repatriation under the Back For Good programme to return home without facing legal action. The programme which started on August 1 has received little response until now at nearly cut-off time.
