Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain has filed a defamation lawsuit against blogger Papagomo, seeking RM3 million in damages and seeking to prevent further defamatory statements.
Inspector-General of Police ( IGP ) Tan Sri Razarudin Husain filed a RM3 million defamation lawsuit against blogger Wan Muhammad Azri Wan Deris, known as Papagomo . Razarudin's lawyer, Raam Kumar, said the lawsuit notice was filed on December 26 in the Kuala Lumpur High Court. It was served to Wan Muhammad Azri yesterday afternoon. Kumar stated the plaintiff is seeking damages for both oral and written defamation, including general, aggravated or exemplary, and special damages.
Razarudin is also seeking an injunction to prevent the defendant from making further defamatory statements and demanding the retraction and destruction of all materials containing the alleged defamatory remarks. This includes videos, publications, messages, and any other relevant content. The IGP is also demanding a public apology from Papagomo to be published on all his social media accounts, mass media platforms, and online outlets. The apology's content must be approved by Razarudin. Previously, investigation papers involving Papagomo regarding a video alleging misconduct by the IGP and Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) were submitted to the Attorney General’s Chambers. On December 19, Razarudin confirmed that Papagomo had provided a statement at the Setapak police station regarding a purportedly defamatory and insulting video targeting the IGP and PDRM on YouTube. The case is being investigated under Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act, Sections 500 and 504 of the Penal Code, and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998
