The Moscow Police Department on Monday said 'officers did not find any evidence on the dog and there was no indication the animal had entered the crime scene.'

Police in Moscow, Idaho, provided an update to the public on Monday about the ongoing murder investigation of four University of Idaho students, clarifying that one of the victim's dog did not tamper with the crime scene.

"There have been numerous requests about the dog found at the residence on the morning of November 13th," the MoscowDepartment said on its website."Arriving officers entered the residence and found the deceased victims. During the search of the home, a dog was found in a room where the crimes had not been committed. Officers did not find any evidence on the dog and there was no indication the animal had entered the crime scene.

According to the update, the dog has since been released to a"responsible person" by officials with animal services. As of Monday, police have yet to identify a suspect in the fatal stabbings of the students. According to police, Kaylee Goncalves, 21, Madison Mogen, 21, Xana Kernodle, 20, and Ethan Chapin, 20, were found murdered in their beds in an off-campus residence near the university in the early morning hours of November 13.
