Ice cream fans are descending on a small rural petrol station to get their hands on what we’re cone-fident is Ireland’s largest 99.
Employees revealed throngs of punters make the pilgrimage to sample the shop’s speciality every day of the week and told how they’re busy with orders from the time they open until they close. She continued: “You could sell a good few a day. When the sun is out, that’s it, they're all coming in looking for ice creams. Nadia added: “There are people who travel up from down the country to get the ice creams and if people are coming in from holiday - their first stop is here for an ice cream.
“They’re popular with kids but we try and tell them to go for a smaller one - little kids and big ice creams are a big mess.” I hit the road and headed for Curran Oil’s Filling Station in Ross Cross in Meath to try out the mammoth soft-serve that has become a viral phenomenon. The colossal cone is called the “Big Boy” and that name is certainly not a misnomer - it’s huge and is nearly one foot in height.
