The popular meal delivery service promises quick, healthy, and delicious meals.

. While some were good—I really enjoyed the chickpea curry—others lacked seasoning, and none were revelatory. They were, however, tastier and more high-quality than anything comparable at the grocery store, and I appreciated the convenience of not having to prep lunch for a week. Read on for my full Freshly review.

Freshly is a weekly meal subscription service with a rotating menu. You can choose among plans that include anywhere from four to 12 meals a week with per meal prices ranging from $8.99 to $11.79. The more meals you purchase, the less each one costs. You can change or pause your subscription at any time.

You can sort the available meals by different categories, including Freshly’s “Signature Selection” and the health-conscious “Freshly Fit.” You can also put search filters in place according to your needs and dietary preferences to see gluten-free, carb-conscious, plant-based, or dairy-free meal options. I liked that the menu had a solid selection for all of my food moods; there were around 50 meal choices ranging from pork carnitas to sesame-ginger chicken to cauliflower pasta primavera.

After you choose your meal plan on Freshly.com, you pick a delivery date and make your meal selections. Your week’s worth of meals arrives at your door in a big insulated box. All the packaging is recyclable, biodegradable, or reusable, and the food containers are microwave-safe. Keep the meals in the fridge until you’re ready to eat, at which point you can heat them up in the microwave for three minutes, in a skillet for five minutes, or in the oven for about 30 minutes. For the most part, yes.

If you’re like me and like to know what’s in your food and keep tabs on your macros , Freshly is appealing because you can see the full ingredient list and nutrition facts of every meal prior to ordering. Do you have dietary restrictions that require you to eat
