So I spent the early weeks of January shopping around, focusing on high-yield savings accounts I’d heard about from colleagues and in my reporting.
My initial rate was 3.20%—a substantial step up from the interest rates of my previous accounts. That was only the start, though. Within weeks, I got an email saying the bank had automatically increased my rate. Then it happened again. And again. And again.
