Diana Rebollar, for whom the younger daughter is named, was the third known victim of convicted murderer Anthony Allen Shore, who became known as the Tourniquet Killer.
His first known murder victim was 15-year-old Laurie Lee Tremblay, whom he attacked on Sept. 26, 1986, on her way to school. After attempting to sexually assault her, Shore strangled Tremblay with a ligature and dumped her body behind Ninfa’s Mexican restaurant in south Houston, where her body was found an hour later.
On Aug. 9, 1994, the nude body of 9-year-old Diana Rebollar was found dumped at a loading dock at a vacant building near North Loop West. She had been badly beaten, sexually assaulted and strangled like Estrada. “I wish I could share with you … what he told us, but it’s unspeakable,” Houston Police Sgt. John Swaim told the Houston Chronicle. “What he did is unspeakable.”Police had few leads, and the case went cold. But in 2003, a speck of evidence underneath Estrada’s fingernail cracked the case wide open.In 1998, Shore was arrested for molesting two young family members, and he was required to provide a DNA sample.
