“Yeah, it's a huge fixture, a Premier League team coming to Sligo, and obviously there is the Seamus Coleman connection as well.The match will bring some additional revenue into the Premier Division side’s coffers, but that is unlikely to greatly alter Russell’s transfer window plans. “It's getting harder and harder for Sligo Rovers and the people at these clubs, the finances they have and the squads, it's a small pool of players that we are all pulling from,” he said.

“We're in a different market, the average age of our squad is 22 so we look for players who see Sligo as a stepping stone and need to be clever in who we bring in, as we can't pay the wages other clubs can or offer the length of contracts.”
