I’m sorry that your parents weren’t accepting or supportive of your learning needs when you were growing up, or when you got your diagnosis as an adult. I imagine that makes their response to your child’s diagnosis—whether it’s motivated by guilt about their choices with you, or some harsher parenting ideology—especially galling. I could see it being very harmful to their relationship with your son, even if they don’t see him often.
You mentioned that you’ve already put your parents on an information diet. If I were you, I would consider further restricting it—don’t feel any pressure to share with them about your son’s medication, specialists, or school accommodations. You can tell them that the subject of his disability is off-limits unless and until they can be supportive and speak with you about it respectfully.
