Dee Kolafa celebrated her 100th birthday at Disneyland — nearly 70 years after she attended the amusement park’s grand opening in 1955.
The Sacramento resident arrived at the amusement park, dolled up in personalized Minnie Mouse ears and was greeted by Mickey Mouse. The family even received a personal tour of Walt Disney’s apartment.“It’s really great. I have had a lot of neat things happen to me,” she said. Disneyland’s grand opening took place on Jul. 17, 1955, and only distributed 6,000 tickets. Kolafa happened to be one of the lucky ticket holders.
The California theme park is the second Disney amusement park. Walt Disney World, located in Orlando, Florida, was the first Disney park that gained nationwide popularity, allowing the company to expand to the West Coast.
