A hunt is underway across two states for an armed man who reportedly threatened police with a gun before going on a wild chase that left two officers injured.
Victoria Police were at a property in Katandra West, about 25 kilometres north-east of Shepparton, on Monday just after midday as part of an investigation.
Local resident Diane, who recently had knee surgery, could barley walk and was ordered to leave her home as police feared for the community's safety. "They kept saying to him, 'put your weapon down and put your hands behind your head' and then he said, 'I'm not f**king going back to jail again'." "I could barely walk and they say 'he's coming', you don't know if you're going to get a bullet in your back or what," she said.
