More than 400 people have been captured as part of a major police operation targeting some of the nation’s 'most dangerous and high-risk' domestic violence offenders.

A comprehensive policing blitz has led to the arrests of more than 400"high-risk" domestic violence offenders in New South Wales, under a large intelligence operation which has captured thousands.More than 400 people have been captured as part of a major police operation targeting some of the nation’s"most dangerous and high-risk" domestic violence offenders.

“Our persistent targeting of the most dangerous domestic violence offenders is effective – we have arrested more than 2000 high-risk perpetrators, with more than half remaining behind bars remanded in custody,” Deputy Commissioner Mal Lanyon from NSW Police said. “Police must continue the tactics employed by our high-risk offender teams to target these people, the seriousness of their crimes must not be understated.”

“The NSW Police Force will continue to battle the perception that domestic and family violence is private business,” he said.According to the most recent Personal Safety Survey conducted by the Australian Bureau of Statistics between 2021 and 2022 during the COVID-19 pandemic, about 3.8 million adults, which is about 20 per cent of the total population, reported being victim to physical and/or family and domestic violence since the age of 15.
