Campus Pride, a national nonprofit that works to make the university experience safer for LGBTQ students, each year releases a 'Best of the Best LGBTQ Colleges & Universities List.
One highlight of Purdue's welcoming nature can be found in the Purdue University LGBTQ Center.
" honored and proud of our Purdue University community," Lowell Kane, director of the LGBTQ Center and director of Student Engagement and Belonging, said."I believe it is important to recognize this ranking as a campus-wide achievement, and the staff of the LGBTQ Center celebrates our student organizations, campus and community partners, administrators, students, staff, faculty, and alumni who have helped Purdue become a national leader over the past ten years.
"The LGBTQ Center has been fortunate to have incredible campus-wide support since we opened in 2012 and Purdue’s efforts around LGBTQ+ inclusion grow each year with the Center and community," Lowell said."We are living in dynamic times and as a campus we are constantly improving policies and practices to be inclusive of all Boilermakers."
It currently sits in Room 230 of the Schleman Hall of Student Services. Later this year, it will move into the Hicks Undergraduate Library. A multitude of new spaces will feature in the move and expansion.
