Dendrobiums can vary significantly because they have many variations under their name. Some dendrobiums bear flowers similar to phalaenopsis. They are commonly known as den-phals. Unlike the phalaenopsis, dendrobiums are sympodial orchids, so it grows horizontally and develops pseudobulbs. Den-phals can also be distinguished from phalaenopsis by looking at the lips of the flower. Den-phals have lips with spurs.Another type of dendrobium is the nobile.
These plants grow best in bright, indirect light. Growers are advised to use a pot that is manageable for the root mass, as these orchids do not produce an extensive root system and prefer to be in small pots.Vanda orchids are native to tropical regions of Asia. Its distinguishing characteristic is its thick, woody, and upright growth habit. It also has thick, waxy, brightly colored flowers with large sepals and small lips.
