Along with Katniss and Beetee, Finnick is rescued by the rebel forces after Katniss causes an explosion in the arena. He works with Katniss and the rebel forces to save Annie, Peeta, Johanna, and others from the Capitol, where they had been kidnapped and tortured.
Upon their rescue, Annie and Finnick get married, and she becomes pregnant with his son, though Finnick tragically never gets the chance to meet him. Finnick is killed off in Mockingjay – Part 2 by lizard mutts while on a mission to President Snow’s mansion. It’s a horrifying death, though Katniss puts him out of his misery when she sets off an explosion in the sewer to free him of his pain.
