HBO is reinforcing its own brand by offering up new stories from familiar, award-winning names
fielded a number of questions about the end of, the flagship show that kept the network at the top of the prestige cable heap for the last decade. But during the network’s presentation for the winter press tour on Wednesday, the show wasn’t mentioned once onstage. Bloys spoke one-on-one with journalists about it, but the perception in the TCA ballroom was clear: The network is ready to move on.
HBO traditionally only has its chief executives present every *other* tour, so in the absence of an onstage address, the network let its shows speak for themselves. A press tour is usually a mix of new material and old, but can be an especially effective way for networks to introduce journalists to brand-new creators who might not otherwise come across their radar.
