And Cade ghosted him, wouldn't respond to him.
"I think [McCarthy] learned a ton from Cade," the team source said."And I think he would tell you that, too, and genuinely mean it." Though McNamara chose to remain in Ann Arbor, his father thought the writing was on the wall. It was clear that Harbaugh intended to hold an open competition between McNamara and McCarthy ahead of the 2022 season despite what Gary McNamara described as positive feedback from the head coach to his son in private.
