A startup called Insilico Medicine, supported by Nvidia, is using generative artificial intelligence to design new drugs for rare diseases. These kinds of diseases affect some 300 million people worldwide, but only 5% have a cure.
Following the satisfactory results obtained in phase 1 of its clinical trial, the company has announced that it is entering phase 2. According to the start-up, this is the first time that a drug aimed at a specific target, discovered and designed by AI, has reached this stage.
