AI has been incorporated into many areas of the travel industry. Airlines, for example, use AI to predict flight cancellations and no-shows. But will programs like ChatGPT become mainstream in the tourism industry? DW's Jonas Martiny on what lies ahead.

In Venice, AI is even being used for crowd control.
"There already are AI applications used by travelers, service providers, tourist destinations and online travel platforms," said Höpken.in other contexts, too. Such robots can't really navigate autonomously though restaurants, said Höpken. This aside, not all patrons may wish to interact with automatons. That's why AI applications will be used in some areas of the tourist trade and hospitality sector, but not others, Höpken said.
