Houthi militants claim to have attacked US and Israeli vessels transiting through Indian Ocean in potential escalation of shipping conflict
But on Sunday Houthi Houthi spokesman Yahya Sarea used a video address to claim that in addition to further attacks in the Red Sea, the militant group had expanded its attacks to the Indian Ocean by launching drones and anti-ship missiles at three Israeli and American vessels. US Central Command has not yet confirmed the Indian Ocean attacks, but if the claims are true it could have significant consequences for global trade.
On Saturday, reports emerged senior leaders from the militants met with Hamas officials to discuss further coordination in actions targeting Israel. Picture: Mohammed Hamoud/Anadolu via Getty Images
