Top boys and girls high school basketball players will play in March at Toyota Center
The top high school boys and girls baseketball players will be at Toyota Center in March of 2023. Cason Williams, a guard from Dallas, played in last year's game in Chicago.Some of the nation’s top high school basketball players are coming to Houston in 2023.
The 46th-annual McDonald’s All-American Games will be played March 28 at the Toyota Center, the organization announced Thursday. The games, set to be broadcast on ESPN platforms, feature 48 of the most talented and highly recruited girls and boys players from around the country.“The McDonald’s All-American Games represent more than one night of basketball,” said Elizabeth Campbell, Senior Director of Cultural Engagement for McDonald’s USA. “It’s a chance for elite players to show out on the national stage and create their own legacy. Houston breathes culture with its diversity and rich basketball history.
Texas has produced 135 McDonald’s All-Americans since 1977, with 23 of those coming from Houston. Now the city has a chance to host the prestigious event, which was held in Chicago last year. Houston was originally selected for the 2020 games, but those were canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. “We’ve got the best high school players coming to town this March, and you know Toyota Center is gonna be hype,” Houston Rockets player Jalen Green said in a press release. “To have been named a McDonald’s All-American, to play for the Rockets and now have the Games come to Houston is so special.”
