Houston Havoc, the city's first semi-pro ultimate frisbee team, set to kick off its inaugural season
The Bayou City is getting its first semi-professional ultimate frisbee team, called the Houston Havoc.“We’re very excited for the inaugural season in Houston, and look forward to budding rivalries with the Austin Sol and Dallas Legion,” said Ryan Pierce, a spokesman for the American Ultimate Disc League .
The Houston team's first game, against the Austin Sol, is at 7 p.m. Saturday at SaberCats Stadium, 12131 Kirby Drive. The Houston Havoc is the AUDL’s 24th team and plays in its South Division along with: the Austin Sol, Dallas Legion, Atlanta Hustle and Carolina Flyers. Bassert had played Division III ultimate frisbee in college at Truman State University in Kirksville, Mo.“I’m extremely excited to show what we can do," he said."We’re playing a good team so that gives us the chance to prove we can play at a high level.”
