It’s challenging finding a job because most employers say I am over qualified, but I need something to do, a purpose.
Duran has worked in the security industry for more than 45 years, and in his time working at the rodeo he’s met superstars including Alan Jackson, Loretta Lynn and even the late Johnny Cash in the 1990s.“When I got to take a picture with Reba McEntire ,” Duran said. “She gave me backstage passes, even though I was just on the job with the security company.
“I’m just looking for anything I can do after school,” he said. “Any job. I’m trying to save up for the future because I do want to study.” Madison Mathis, 20, has recently struggled to find a job and applied for a security guard position at the career fair. She left a job at an adult daycare a few months ago and has been eager to get back into the workforce since.
