Houston airport delays: Winter storm prompts HOU, IAH flight cancellations

Still, Houston travelers fared better than those in other hard-hit parts of the country. About 2,000 flights scheduled for Thursday were canceled nationwide. Chicago was particularly hard hit, with 750 canceled flights between O'Hare and Midway airports, as was Denver, where 450 flights were canceled. Both cities saw several inches of snowfall since Wednesday, as a result of Winter Storm Elliott.
"If necessary, our crews will work to prep the airfield and surrounding roadways with solid and liquid de-icing agents," he continued, noting that the forecast for the area this week calls for cold and wind, but not rain, sleet or snow.
