The House is preparing to vote on holding Mark Meadows, former President Donald Trump’s final chief of staff, in criminal contempt of Congress
, only to back out last week after turning over material from a personal email account.
Expectations are low that the Jan. 6 commission will be much more than a setting for a partisan food fight. But as WSJ’s Gerald F. Photo illustration: Todd Johnson Mr. Hannity didn’t address his own texts with Mr. Meadows, which were read aloud at a Jan. 6 committee meeting one day earlier and revealed that Mr. Hannity had texted Mr. Meadows on Jan. 6 about Mr. Trump: “Can he make a statement? Ask people to leave the Capitol?”
“After former President Trump made the statement ‘fake news,’ we never got another word from Mr. Meadows,” said Rep. Bennie Thompson , the chairman of the Jan. 6 panel. Mr. Thompson told reporters on Tuesday that at some point the committee would identify the unnamed lawmakers communicating with Mr. Meadows.
