His lungs start to fail him. He’s just dying a slow and horrible death. By the end of it, he looks like an old man. He’s not! He’s a young man. He’s only so many years older than his brother, Daemon. But it’s aged him.

Viseys' absence from House of the Dragon will be felt not only by his lack of presence onscreen, but also in the way he died. Rotting away despite wanting to use his position for good underscores the corruptibility of royal power in Westeros, no matter what the person in power does with their position.
