HouseoftheDragon fans will get greater insight into Daemon next season—for better or worse. “We’re working on season two right now and really getting into exploring his psyche and taking him on a journey,” says executive producer Sara Hess.
. “I’m proud of it!” Hess says of the show’s first season. “We all worked so hard for so long, during a pandemic, in masks, in various countries, hundreds of world-class artists and craftsmen and technicians…and it’s actually fairly close to what we originally envisioned starting back in 2019. But so much better because of our truly amazing company.”
And Viserys, or rather, Considine, provided more than the spine of the season’s story. It’s hard to imagine laughs on the dark, dragon-heavy drama, but Hess says her favorite moment shooting the season involved some unexpected hilarity. “We were shooting the big emotional dinner scene in episode eight and the dance music started, and Paddy Considine, in full decrepit old-age makeup, suddenly stood up and started belting out ‘I Got You Babe’ in perfect tune,” she recalls.
Since the source material isn’t a novel where the reader can know what the characters are thinking, some aspects have been filled in or altered by the show’s writers and creators. “It’s a history stitched together from various reports, and some of them contradict each other, and none of them are from key players,” says Hess. “So the only thing that’s canon here is that nothing is canon. Okay, I’m slightly exaggerating.

Follow live as both teams turn to bullpenThe Philadelphia Phillies roll into NLCS Game 4 with a 2-1 series lead over the San Diego Padres and a home crowd surely thirsting for the chance to clinch the pennant in Sunday's Game 5.
