.RepAngieCraig and RepDeborahRoss announced that they will miss the crucial debt ceiling vote this week because of needed surgery to repair a dislocated ankle and a positive COVID-19 diagnosis, respectively.

Rep. Angie Craig and Rep. Deborah Ross announced on Twitter that they could not vote this week because of needed surgery to repair a dislocated ankle and a positive COVID-19 diagnosis, respectively. Republicans ended proxy voting earlier this year, leaving them unable to vote."This morning, I tested positive for COVID-19 & will not be able to vote this week since proxy voting ended," Ross tweeted Tuesday.

This morning, I tested positive for COVID-19 & will not be able to vote this week since proxy voting ended. While I am disappointed to be missing such a consequential week in DC, I support the bipartisan agreement that @POTUS has negotiated to prevent a catastrophic default."While getting some yard work done at home in Minnesota on Monday evening, Rep. Craig tripped and injured her ankle. She was transported to a local hospital where she was diagnosed with a bimalleolar fracture, as well as a dislocated ankle," a statement from Craig's office read.

"She is scheduled to undergo surgery to repair the ankle on Thursday," it added."Her physician has advised her not to fly in advance of the surgery or immediately after. As a result, Rep. Craig will miss votes in Congress this week related to the Bipartisan Budget Agreement."The statement didn't give a date for Craig's return but added that she is looking to return as soon as possible. The absence of the representatives could pose a problem.
