It is getting hot out there again. Heading into the long weekend and through the start of October, we are expecting some unseasonable heat to build in across Australia.
Hot conditions are stretching across the country as we see heat from the north-west move over to the south-east.
We are initially seeing a trough that will push east into South Australia, bringing the heat with it. Meanwhile for the AFL Grand Final between the Collingwood Magpies and Brisbane Lions, a high of 29C is expected on Saturday, with first bounce happening in peak heat. Areas of NSW including the Greater Hunter region, Greater Sydney and Far South Coast will be at extreme fire danger. It will be the first day of October, so monthly temperature records are less likely to fall than the last round of heat in September, but plenty above 40C temperatures are looking likely in the outback. As discussed earlier, South Australia will see another round of heat on Monday for Labour Day, as another trough drags the warm air south. A great day for the beach in Adelaide.
Penrith has a forecast high of 39C on Tuesday, with that heat handing on into Wednesday with a high of 35C. Penrith is expecting the first four days of October to all be above 30C.
