Several hospitals in San Diego County have begun using overflow tents outside emergency rooms to cope with a rising number of patients with flu and other respiratory illness.
Los Angeles County Public Health officials say this is the earliest start to flu season the county has seen in five years.Several Southern California hospitals have begun using overflow tents outside emergency rooms to cope with a rising number of patients with flu and other respiratory illness.Friday that tents were put up at Scripps Memorial Hospital in Encinitas, Jacobs Medical Center at UC San Diego Health in La Jolla and Sharp Grossmont Hospital in La Mesa.
Scripps hospitals and doctor's offices reported 1,695 positive flu tests since Sept. 1, up from 471 in the same, year-ago period.
