A passenger has vowed never to fly with Qantas again after customers were forced to wait about eight hours for a plane that would never take off.
TikTok user Doctor Michael took to social media after his flight from Melbourne Airport to New York on Monday night faced continued and avoidable setbacks before it was abruptly cancelled.
The doctor said the trouble began when his flight was delayed until after the longest runway, needed for long haul flights, closed for the night. “The captain… says we’re still too heavy, there’s a bit of a wind so we’re going to have to dip some fuel and the only way to do that is to turn on the engines… burn it off that way.”
“Then just before four o’clock, the captain came on and said ‘all the staff have gone past their rostered hours. It’s illegal for us to fly now so we’re just going to go back in’,” he said. Customers waited for up to eight hours for the flight that would eventually be cancelled.
