LEADING Hong Kong democracy campaigners vowed to continue their fight even if they are jailed by a court later today following a trial that has sparked renewed alarm over shrinking political freedoms under an assertive China. Nine activists are awaiting verdicts in a trial that deployed rarely used colonial-era public nuisance charges for their participation in the 2014 Umbrella Movement protests, which called for free elections for the city’s leader.
