, set to debut this week at TIFF.

Directed by Gabbriellini from a screenplay he co-wrote with Carlo Salsa, the film follows Veronica who, just before her 20th birthday, is released from prison after a long and public trial in which she stood accused of brutally murdering her mother and her mother’s lover. She was found not guilty in court, but the court of public opinion is another matter, and now every move she makes is under society’s microscope.

Luca Guadagnino produced the film through his Frenesy production company alongside Lorenzo Mieli’s The Apartment Pictures and Olivia Musini of Cinemaundici. Cast features Margherita Corradi, Giorgia Frank, Alessandro Tedeschi, Alice Arcuri, and Alessia Giuliani. Memento International is handling sales on the pic. came to me when I saw a photo online of a young girl in a prison yard,” Gabbriellini said of the pic. “You could see that typical adolescent energy in her eyes.

Gabbriellini added: “I often feel that my own generation hasn’t created an “easy” world for our children to decode so a lot of my motivation to make this film also arises from the need to admit a certain guilt.”
