The behind-the-scenes video following today's HogwartsLegacy State of Play showed a brief image of the game's map, and it looks enormous.
Contrary to what some might think based on its name, it looks like Hogwarts Legacy is going to feature locations far beyond the titular school for witchcraft and wizardry. The newest State of Play revealed much and more about the highly anticipated RPG based on the world of Harry Potter, including several aspects of its combat system. The stream even revealed that Hogwarts Legacy players can cast Unforgivable Curses.
Apart from gameplay and narrative information, the State of Play showed off more of Hogwarts Legacy's world than ever before. Viewers got a much better idea of the interior of the sprawling and iconic castle, with footage showing various locations from the books and movies. Other instantly recognizable locations, such as Hogsmeade and Gringotts, also look to be fully explorable.
It doesn't seem like this map is meant to be an in-game asset and appears to be more in line with other pieces of concept art shown in this section of the video. However, its inclusion in the behind-the-scenes video sends the message that the actual map will likely share some resemblance with it. Hogwarts Legacy is coming out during the holiday season, so Warner Bros. and developer Avalanche Games still have several months to reveal more about the game's world.
Until that time, however, it's probably safe to assume that the size of Hogwarts Legacy won't be anything to scoff at. The State of Play video revealed a number of diverse, highly detailed locations, including some that are larger than they first appear. Whether Hogwarts Legacy is dizzyingly large or small and condensed, though, it will be important for the developers to nail the atmosphere and charm of this iconic universe.
