He claimed that three MACC officers met with the 'Datuk' for breakfast on May 4 – the same day a separate team raided, arrested and obtained a three-day remand order against the 'Tan Sri' and his 'son' under Section 16 of the MACC Act 2009. Arun, who revealed that he had lodged the MACC report which triggered the raid, said the alleged leak concerned an ongoing probe into the development of a plot of land belonging to the Sri Mahamariamman Devasthanam temple.On the conference agenda, Hindu Agamam Ani and other supporting NGOs will discuss the need for Hindu temples to be transformed into community service centres rather than remain mere tourist attractions.
Arun said there are about 3,000 Hindu temples nationwide, and that the group aims to transform about 500. He added that there is also an urgent need for reform to cut out alleged corruption and mismanagement of temples.
