'Lizzie’s 30 now and I really like the idea of her waking up on her 30th birthday and being like, 'This isn’t where I thought I was going to be.''
Hilary went on to say that the notion that Lizzie may still be"struggling" to fit in with her peers is exactly why she remains drawn to the character.She explained:"She had those struggles in middle school where she didn't have a place where she fits in and, you know, always on the struggle bus. But she's also your best friend, and that's exactly what I want to target and hit home again — is being there for girls in this time of their life.
And she also spoke about potential plot ideas, revealing that the show could see her character enduring fertility struggles or even becoming a mom."The opportunities are really endless," she said."Maybe at the end of the series we see her having a baby? You know, maybe it's hard for her to get pregnant? Maybe there is something bad happening on her 30th birthday in the first episode? I don't know! There's all this fun.
This isn't the first time Hilary has reflected on the relevance of Lizzie reaching her 30th milestone, revealing that she can relate to the feeling of"not being where she thought she'd be" by a particular age.
