A late hip check caused the injury during a Feb. 4 game against the PAL Junior Islanders.
Ricky Lias, a first-year forward on the, was injured Feb. 4 during a late hip check while taking on the PAL Junior Islanders, according to the Hershey team’s owner, Crystal Boudreau.
“The hit wasn’t from behind, but it was close to the boards and late. A major penalty was assessed,” Boudreau said. Lias, 18, at first could not move his legs after he was taken to Long Island Hospital. He has since taken his first steps, but Boudreau said he has a “long and strenuous” recovery process ahead of him.Boudreau said Lias has since been released from Long Island Hospital and is continuing outpatient treatment through the Penn State Hershey Medical Center.
