A report from an Austin-based public relations firm says Texas is among the least civically engaged states.
The Texas capitol is seen in 2023. According to a new report from an Austin-based company, Texas does not rank high in terms of patriotism., but perhaps there's less allegiance to one of them., a public-relations firm based in Austin, the Lone Star State is the least patriotic in the nation.
The most patriotic state was Montana, while Alaska and North Dakota rounded out the top three. Texas trailed states like New York, California and Rhode Island in patriotism. The lowest 10 also included Connecticut, Indiana, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Florida and Tennessee. The report also found that just 5.6 percent of Texas's population is either a veteran or active-duty military personnel, behind states like New Mexico , Wisconsin and Oregon . Texas was tied with Michigan for the ninth-smallest share of military population. Texas was also found to have the fifth-lowest rate of civic engagement, following Arkansas, Florida, Alabama and South Carolina.
Texas was ranked No. 21 in terms of cultural conservatism, with the most conservative being Mississippi, Alabama, South Dakota and South Carolina. Massachusetts was named the least conservative state, followed by Connecticut and Rhode Island.
