The same 11 casinos and racinos brought in a combined $202 million in May 2022. The record for the month was set in 2021, at $209 million, according to data from the Ohio Casino Control and Lottery commissions. This is the money kept by the gambling houses, after paying out winnings, but before state taxes and fees.

Ohio’s gambling totals are still ahead year-over-year. So far in 2023, the casinos and racinos have had $1 billion in gambling revenue, up from $984 million through five months last year. These figures exclude newly legalized sports betting. The four casinos, which can offer slot machines and table games like blackjack, brought in $80.6 million of gambling revenue in May, down from $86.7 million last year. The state’s seven racinos, the gambling houses at horse racetracks that can only offer slot machines, brought in $115.3 million, up from $114.9 million.* $25.6 million at MGM Northfield Park, up from $24.4 million in May 2022.* $20.7 million at JACK Casino Cleveland, down from $23.3 million last March.
