Here are all 30 games confirmed for Apple Arcade:
As with any subscription service, this list should easily contain enough entertainment to keep you occupied until you die. The question for Apple is whether or not a given player can find, say, 10 of these that they really want to play. Or, more to the point, 10 that they want to play more than the current free-to-play-offerings.
The Apple App Store more or less created the free-to-play sector of the industry. Sure, shareware had been around forever and became a smash hit on Facebook, but it was the App Store that set turned the whole concept to 11 and eventually came to eclipse the entirety of mobile gaming before moving on to other platforms: the biggest console game last year was free-to-play, a first for the industry.
As with Google Stadia, it's a nice dream. But at the Game Developer's Conference last week, most of the people I talked to about Google Stadia were anxious above anything else: these projects have the potential to do amazing things, but there's something deeply troubling about having the twin 800 lb gorillas of Google and Apple stomp their way into your industry flinging giant piles of cash.
