The South African Weather Service warns of heavy rainfall in Limpopo and Mpumalanga due to Tropical Storm Filipo intensifying in the Mozambique Channel. Residents are advised to take precautionary measures.
While most of the country battles a heatwave, the South African Weather Service (SAWS) is warning of heavy rainfall in Limpopo and Mpumalanga on Monday afternoon. According to the service, Tropical Storm Filipo , that’s been entrenched in the Mozambique Channel , is expected to intensify by the end of the day.
Mozambique’s National Institute of Meteorology issued a red alert warning on Sunday, advising residents in affected areas to adopt precautionary safety measures to avoid Tropical Storm Filipo. The storm will be accompanied by heavy rain, as well as a deterioration of sea conditions in the country. Back home, the South African Weather Service has warned of heavy rainfall in the Lowveld region of Mpumalanga.
